Hello All
Sorry it has taken so long to get this list together and send out an update.
If you wish to make a delegation please call Maureen Strittmatter, Senior Board Coordinator at (613) 596-8211, ext. 8641. Better to do this sooner than later so the board can allocate appropriate time. Please let Trustee Bronwyn Funiciello know that you will be making a delegation so we will have some idea as we go forward of how many people will be speaking.
The Community Council of Overbrook passed a motion at their October meeting calling on the school board to keep Rideau HS open. At the same meeting Councillor Jacques Legendre indicated his support for Rideau HS
Let the Trustees know why you believe Rideau HS needs to stay open.

An open house/tour of Rideau HS and the Day Care at Rideau for Trustees is being worked on.
A representative of the Wood Manufacturing Council which has there WoodLINKS component at Rideau HS has been in touch and will hopefully be presenting to the board or failing that submitting a written submission. The Wood Manufacturing Council recently awarded the WoodLINKS Success Award to Robert Aucoin a teacher at Rideau High School.
Letters of support continue to be sent to Trustees and myself. I'll be working on posting them to SchoolZone6.ca over the next few days.
It seems that enough people, between the two closures, have requested to make a delegation so the start time has been moved to 6:00pm. from 7:30pm. I am seeking clarification on the structure of the meeting and will update as I get more information. My preference, and how it has been done in the past, would be for a meeting for each closure and the meeting to include trustees debating/discussing the issue further that evening so people could begin to see how the trustees are engaged with the issue. As it is now the public makes comments and are then sent away. If they wish to hear the Trustees discuss this issue they will need to come back to the Board office on Dec. 7 and Dec. 15 and as far as I know both closures will be discussed at both of those meetings. This set up unfortunately makes it look like the board is unwilling to have an extra meeting for this important process.
There is an effort underway for the Rideau HS School Council to meet with the Rideau HS Student Council in the near term.
