As a very concerned parent who has lived in the community for the past 15 years and a graduate of Rideau High School. Thank god Rideau and the Rideau Daycare were there when i decided to go back to school. Rideau had an excellent parenting program for parents to get there high school diploma. I was able to go to school and have my child attend the Rideau daycare. I did not have to travel far as the daycare was located in the school which gave me piece of mind. I had the support of the teachers, staff and the daycare to help me succeed and get my diploma. Without them i don't know what i would have done. They helped me not only with getting my diploma, but in so many other aspects of my life and i thank them for that. So closing Rideau does not make much sense, why because there are not enough students to fill the classrooms. Well how about filling the classrooms with cross boundary students and expanding some of there programms they have, or bring in some new programms to attract students. If you really think about it, by closing Rideau where will the students and the parents of the daycare go. Students and parents of the daycare will have to travel outside there community to get there education and bring there children else where. By closing Rideau there will be more drop outs and job losses. This will have a huge impact on the community by letting this happen. There are so many other ways you can help our community grow and be much stronger. As a community we will stick together and we will not back down. We will voice our concerns to whom we have to, and try to save Rideau High School and the Rideau Daycare.
